DZ Doodle's Challenge for the Week

It's time for our DZ Doodles challenge and this week is a great sketch from my fellow team member Rosalien. It's so simple and can be rotated and used any way as long as the base sketch is still able to be seen.
For my card I used Close to My Heart's paper pack "YOU ROCK". It was perfect for this cute little digi "Song for You"
Remember to participate in this weeks challenge and you could win two free images of your choice. Just head on over to our blog DZ Doodle and enter your artwork today.

Don't Worry, I'm Still Here!

I realized it had been a week since my last post...not my norm! So I thought I better let everyone know what was going on...I'm on vacation. My Mother and I have taken my boys to the beach for a week so there won't be any new artwork until next week, but don't worry it's coming. Now before you go getting to jealous of my get away I'll let you know how it's going so far....it rained all the way down here (love driving in the rain on I-95) , rained all day yesterday, which was actually OK as it's always nice to snuggle in at least one day and relax, but then last night my Mother got sick and now Cole (my four year old) is sick with a horrible tummy bug. So to look on the bright side....I'm catching up on a ton of reading and computer work, LOL. We did get to see a beautiful rainbow last night as the rain started to dissipate and I thought I would share it with you. See you next week and pray my family gets over this stomach bug mess.....nothing worse than being sick away from home.

So this week's challenge was to sew on a card and leave it to me to push the envelope. I love to sew with my sewing machine on my projects, but I just didn't seem to be inspired by the sewing machine this week. So I did a little faux stitching on my card. Just used my handy dandy paper piercer and a white gel pen to make the stitching and done. I love this effect, it's easy and really cute.

Be sure to hop on over to DZ Blog and join in the challenge for the week. You could win two DZ images of your choice, so heck, why not? Don't have a DZ image...no problem, just go to Paper Craft Planet and pick up a free one. Have a great week.

Acrylic Albums Are Easy Peasy!

I wanted to share with you all an acrylic album I did a while back at a convention I attended. I love this little album, even though I haven't filled it with my pictures or thoughts yet...one rainy day I promise I'll get to it. I know that sometimes the acrylic can seem a bit intimidating but don't let it...it's such a fun and creative medium to make little books with.

Close To My Heart has an adorable My Creations Acrylic Album that is ready to go...but better yet, mix it up. Our My Creations All Sorts Mini Album is a standard chipboard album that blends perfectly with the Acrylic...so you can have the best of both worlds. Get one of each, mix them up and you'll have two unique albums.

A Month Of Miracles! Real Ones!

This seems to be a theme for me this month. With Close To My Heart releasing their awesome kit for National Scrapbooking Month called Miracle, I've had several posts with artwork from that kit and it's a great kit...but I have a REAL MIRACLE!

I hope everyone will help me wish my sweet little boy Will HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Today is his 9th birthday and that and everyday I have with my special boy is a real miracle.
Will has a neurological condition called Lissencephaly. He can't walk or talk and he battles seizures daily. Doctors had told us he was going to die at 6 months and statistics tell us children with Lissencephaly don't live past age 2....but MIRACLES DO EXIST! Today Will is nine and he is such a HUGE BLESSING to all of us. He has given his little brother a miracle gift of compassion, he has given his father and I the miracle of unconditional love, he has given my mother the miracle gift of purpose and he truly touches everyone that knows him....WHAT A MIRACLE. I usually don't post that many personal posts but I wanted so much to celebrate and shout for joy the Miracle that I have in my son Will.

I'd love to hear what's a Miracle in your life....Treasure each and every day.

Hugs, Lori

Veranda Album Workshop, May 20th

This Dream album is adorable and fun to make. It's all from the Close To My Heart collection Veranda and it's designed to be a personal little journal. Capture a few pictures of yourself from childhood to now....jot down some of your thoughts on happiness, kindness and more and create a keepsake to pass along to your loved ones that's all about you. Of course the album can be used for a variety of subjects but I always seem to leave myself out of the scrapbooking and I thought this was a great personalized book. Come join me on May 20th, 6pm and go home with a completed 6 x 6 accordion album. All the supplies and materials and colored directions will be provided for the workshop. The cost for the entire workshop is $30 and space is limited so please contact me today to reserve your space.
Don't live near me....no problem, I can mail you a kit with detailed instructions to complete in the privacy of your home.

I WAS WRONG! GO FIGURE

I have told everyone for quite sometime that Close To My Heart's Cardstock does not do well in the Cricut. Well Saturday afternoon I started out on a mission to see if our cardstock would work in the Cricut and I found out I was wrong, it works GREAT. The reason I started this journey was because I had several customers who have used a certain color of cardstock from Stampin Up as thier flesh color and low and behold Stampin Up is discontining that particular color....so I came up with a wonderful solution. Our TAFFY color I think is just perfect, has just a hint of pink blush to it so it's great for that fleshy skin tone. I also think that the PARCHMENT would work well. I did a comparison for you so you can decide which you prefer. This cutie little guy was cut using my Everyday Paper Doll cartridge..
Here are a few tips to help you when you use Close To My Heart card stock in your Cricut.
I had my depth of the blade on 4 and my pressure on Medium.
I didn't use a brand new mat, one with a little ware, so my card stock stuck but not to much
I also used the spatula to lift my images up off the mat once they were cut.
Do these few things really made it just perfect, no curling...just a flat, precious image. Be sure to go to my website to stock up on your TAFFY/ or PARCHMENT card stock.
