It's Challenge Time with Prickley Pear

Boo To You

I have to admit I'm not one of those artist that has a concept of a project before I begin and then go and create what my mind conceived.  Nope...not me at all.  I'm more the speed of sit down and see what happens.  I might have a die, stamp or paper line I have in mind but that's about as much planning as I do.  So as you can imagine, sometimes my projects are home runs and sometimes...well just ...let's just say some aren't, LOL.  This card to me is one of my home runs...I LOVE IT!!!!  

I started with the My Mind's Eye Mischievous paper line that Beary Scraps has just gotten in and it's super cute.My paper helped me choose my puppies colors and then everything started to come together for this double Z fold card.  Don't you just love this puppy die from Cottage Cutz dies....so stinkin cute. The puppy actually is connected to the card/pumpkin by twine so he can be pulled out to say BOO TO YOU, but he won't come all the way out, which ensures he stays with the card :)

Once you untie the front a Happy Halloween Sentiment is ready to pop out and greet you.  Overall I adore this card... everything about it just came together perfect.

Some Challenge Fun

Tonight I had a little extra time to just have some fun, so I created this card for Card Patterns current sketch challenge.   I had to use some of my new Prickley Pear stamps, that I am soooooo loving.  Birdcage Winter 2 was the main stamp set that I used with the matching die.   The paper is from CRATE and I do so love their collections.  Pretty...Pretty.

Best Witches with Prickley Pear

Good Morning Everyone.  I hope you all had a great week.  Today I'm gearing up for October with this adorable card using Prickley Pears stamps.  Isn't she just cute as a button. She is titled Witch on a Pumpkin and I think she is just cute as a pumpkin....no pun intended ;)  I used Copic markers to color her and then distressed with distress inks to age it up a bit.

Bling in the Season

Fun With PaperClay

Have you played with Creative PaperClay yet?  If not, why?  Not sure what to do with it?  Well today I'm going to share a simple tutorial with you that will have you running to your nearest craft store to pick some up and start playing.

First let me tell you Paperclay is like clay but it's paper and dries light as a feather ready to use on your card, layouts or anything else you can think of.  Also with it being paper it so compatible with so many different products, dies, glues, inks, stains, mists, rubs...well you get the idea.  So onto our simple rose tutorial.

In the photo above I show you the first five steps. Create a small ball and flatten as thin as you can without tearing.  I use my fingers as I love the look of my fingerprints in the finished petals...makes it look like the veins on a real rose but paperclay works beautifully with any tools...so the choice is yours.  Then just roll your flattened petal into a center rose bud leaving the end a bit open. You've created your base for your rose flower.  Repeat step one and two and then apply to your base rose bud.  Continue to do this until you have the desired size for your flower.

Your next step is to let your rose air dry.  The petals are thin, so I only let mine dry overnight and then they were ready for the next step.  Remember I said how compatible PaperClay is, Glimmer Mist works great.  Spritz your flower with desired color and let dry.

For the final step for the roses I added some Viva Gold rub to the edges of the petals.  It just gave a really nice finishing touch.  I use a makeup sponge to apply, they're cheap so you don't mind tossing when it's time for a new one.

This is an easel card that really became more of a sculpture once it was complete.  I wonder is it wrong to give yourself a card, LOL....I really can see this sitting on my office desk.  LOVE IT!!!

Today I'm sharing my Jack-O-Joke card with you I created using Scrapping Cottage/ CottageCutz dies. "What did the Momma Jack-O-Lantern say to the baby Jack-O-Lantern.....Cut it out. " I always love to have fun and find humor in everything, and this is my silly sense of humor coming out with this card. The punch line is hidden with a tag that hides behind the pumpkins and can be pulled out when you're ready to find out the answer.

I used the Trick or Treat Puppy die for the Momma Pumpkin. The baby pumpkin is from Spooky Treats which is one of the My Little Shoebox dies that coordinate with their paper collections. Just a great pairing.

Sweet Slumber

Kaisercraft has just released their new Bonjour collection and it's just down right beautiful.  All the soft colors end up giving such a rich feel. I love the way I was even able to use it for a baby layout of my youngest son.  So sweet.

The flowers and the title were all covered with Sakura Glaze. You may not see it so clear in the photo but it gave them all a glassy look that really helps them pop off the page.
