First Grade with Class Act

It's hard to believe this is actually a 1st grade picture of my little boy....he looks so big in it, especially considering he's was only six.  The Class Act collection is one of several featured / new this month from KaiserCraft.  It's super cute with still that vintage feel that KaiserCraft is so superb at.

 I took some of KaiserCraft's wooden flourishes and created enameled charms for my layout...don't they look cute, dangling off the title?

I created a small mini book for the front of my layout that holds additional journaling.

Finally, just because I love them I had to throw a simple banner along the top.  I love KaiserCrafts new wooden letter (GRADE)...they are so delicate but sturdy to hold up to some embellishing (ex: heat embossing).

Cascading Card Tutorial

Products Used: Scor-Pal, Scor Pal Tape, Scor-Pal Tool, Simple Stories:Fabulous Collection, Card Stock, Dies

This is such a simple card tutorial that will make your cards look like a show stopper.  I love the dimension that is achieved with this design.  Let’s look at how to create this beautiful  Cascading Card.

Step One: Cut card stock  8 x 10 ½”.  Laying the card stock long ways, mark a dot at the 2 ½ “ down from the top and rotate paper to do on the opposite side.  This will create a slanting line. 

Step Two: Line your marked dots up and cut to form as shown in the picture.

Step Three: Score at 1 ¾ “ , 3 ½”,  5 ¼”, 7”, and 8 ¾”.  Do this on both sections of paper.  Once you have all the lines scored crease in alternating mountains and valley folds and crease with your Scor-Pal Tool. 

Step Four: Measure down your first score line ( 1 ¾) to 2  ½ “ and on your last score line ( 8 ¾”) measure down  1 ½”.  This will be half way between on both sides.  Cut down from the top to the measured place creating a slit.  You will do this on both pieces however on the second piece instead of cutting from the top down, cut from the bottom up. 

Step Five:  Slide your two pieces together using the slots created.  I glued my flaps together using Scor Pal Tape and so the front and back would layout flat.  Decorate as desired  

Shape More Than Just Flowers

This card is entitled  "Shine your Light" and it's another beautiful card I created for Cheery Lynn and CHA.  You know I'm always trying to think of things outside the box a bit and that is exactly what I strived for with the mini doilies on this one.  They really have great dimension cupping them much like a flower.  Adds a really nice pop.  

I was able to create the Dogwoods with the new Build a Flower 3.  Honestly if you don't have all the build a flowers as of yet...you really have to get them.  They are amazing and the flowers you can create are almost limitless.

Sometimes Simple is Good

Sometimes there are collections that really don't need a lot, a simple layout can really be a stunner.  This is from the Secret Admirer Collection from Kaisercraft.  The paper is beautiful as you can see so I just added a few rub ons, collectables and flowers and it was done. 

I love this picture of my little Cole and me, he's such a giggle monster and this pictured captured just that.  Love it! 

Re-purposed Wine Bottle

I had to get a bit tickled at my repurposed wine bottle/ vase...granted I really do like the way it turned out as I love the Tropicana Collection from KasierCraft, but note....from across the room the color of twine I used is the exact color of the original wine bottle.  So if you didn't know it, it just looks like a wine bottle...duh.  I love the way the twine looks wrapped around the bottle but next time I think I'll use a very different color twine, LOL.  

BIG NEWS!!!!!

I'm so excited to be able to share some BIG news with you all today.  I've been asked to joined Cheery Lynn's Design team.  I've admired and used their dies for so long, and they have so many talented artists on their team, it really is an honor.  

Today , I'm sharing a Cheery Lynn card using several of their latest dies. The "Orchid" die is a must have and is so unique if you love to create flowers. . The paper collection is of course from KaiserCraft / Tropicana and I think the two paired together (the die and the paperline)  are just perfect.  

The mesh border that was used as background is also one of Cheery Lynn's latest and it's going to be one that you will use over and over and over.  Especially with any type of mixed media.  Don't you think it's a must have?

Were you able to catch a glimpse of the Secret Admirer Collection from KaiserCraft.  It was one of their beautiful releases for December.  This is a trade card frame I created using the collection and I just love everything about it.

Details with Cheery Lynn Dies

I was thrilled to be able to help out Cheery Lynn Dies with some CHA projects.  I just wish I was able to be there in California to see the booth myself, but one I will make it.  That's a promise to myself.

Where have you been? Who Me?

I did so well through the holidays having my post scheduled and then ...post holiday, OH NO!!!!!  With getting back into the schedule somehow I overlooked my darn blog.  Today I was looking and thought oh no where have I been?  I haven't posted since the end of December.  Not a good thing, that's for sure.

Now don't worry I have been hard at work on design team work for CHA and upcoming posts, so there is plenty in the works to inspire you 2013 style.


This is a step card I created for KaiserCraft.  I love, love, I mean love this collection.  Tropicana.  Did I mention that I love it!!!  It screams 1940's holidays to me for some reason.  Kaiser is always so great at that vintage feel.
