Don't forget the Thank you

In this day and age with computers, cell phones and probably lots of other technical things I don't even know about, we forget the art of Thank you's. Recently I made a card for a friend of mine that I really didn't even think that much about...I just made it up and gave it to her. When she opened it she got tears in her eyes and said she would keep it forever. I could tell she really cherished it and though it may not be kept forever, I knew it really touched her and meant a lot. This is something that I just forgot with my busy life and I was really blessed to be reminded of. Giving something of yourself to someone means so much more than buying a gift or shooting out an email, remembering to say THANK YOU. My challenge to you today is think of someone that has done something that has touched your life, maybe a your mother who helps with your children, or a friend that is always there if you call everyday or once every six months, the neighbor next door who always smiles when you see them in the yard... just someone that has done something nice for you ....little or big. I want to thank all of you who are reading this and taking time out of your busy lives to hear what I think. THANK YOU!!

June's Stamp Of The Month : Tender Tags

Tender Tags : June's Stamp of the Month

I just love all the wonderful stamp of the months that Close to My Heart puts out. This month is no exception. I decided today I would sit down and make a couple of cards with this really cute stamp set.

On the first card I used the Back Country paper pack and the layout " Folded Focus" from the new Wishes book. I really love all the cards in the Wishes book that include little peep holes, circles and things that just seem to think outside of the box... Great book if you don't have it yet. With the olive ink pad I random stamped the interior of the card. The real creation here was the 3-D flower, where I used the Tender Tag stamps and cut off half of the tag...then folded and sewed the tags together to create the flower and give it a great POP! To top of the flower I folded and rolled a scrap piece of Back Country to be the center of the flower and glued it in place with a little liquid glass. I really loved the finished product on this and that you would never realize how altered the stamp was.

On the second card I used the Animals Cookies paper pack from CTMH and chose the layout "GALLERY" from the new Wishes Book. I random stamped the background of my card using Dutch Blue, Tulip and Sunflower inks along with the thanks stamp included in the Tender Tags set. I was really trying to think outside of the box with this stamp set. Of course, it's cute tags, but I wanted to use it as design elements not tags. Butting the stamped images of the tags together really made for a nice border edge. I used pop dots on the trees so it gives the card a little more dimension.

I challenge you to take some of you favorite stamps and try to think how you could alter them and make something new out of them verses just the obvious. It can be really fun, not to mention how it can get those old creative juices flowing.

Makin Waves and Animal Cookies Waterfall Card

I've have really gotten into artwork that moves....so the waterfall card is my new love. This is the cutest little stamp set from Close To My Heart called Makin' Waves and the line of paper is also from the New Summer Idea Book called Animal Cookies. I used sunflower, dutch blue, clover meadow and tulip ink pads and also the orange watercolor pencil to color in the duckies and then blended with the blender pen...love, love, love this little tool and it's so darn reasonable in price. Happy to Have Great Friends

I was really happy that my friend Shellie was able to come over to my house this afternoon and craft with me. We always have such a great time together and today was no exception. I actually did get some cards done in between all the talking....so I hope you enjoy.

Beach Trip Mom the Boys and Me!!!!

I've been enjoying a restful week at the beach with my Mom and boys and have had a blast doing nothing. Mom and I did do a little paper crafting one morning this week and wanted to show the cute card I made. I used the Perfect Day Paper pack from Close To My Heart. I stamped the twill ribbon on the card and stamped my rocket images then colored them in with the blender pen and finished the images off with liquid glass. Of course a few pop dots is always in order. I just love combining all the tools and techniques that Close To My Heart has to offer.
