Layout for the "Own It" Contest at Leadership

Close to My Heart Leadership Conference had several contests and one of them was a layout with a personal interpretation of what "OWN IT" meant. This was a layout I did of my son Will and was really pleased with the finished result. I was in the top five, but not the 1st place winner...that's OK, because there was some really beautiful artwork there to compete with. I used the back country paper pack for this layout, which is really funny because it was my least favorite when it premiered the beginning of summer, and yet...I've used it more than any other paper this past quarter...just goes to show, you sometimes have to rethink things. I just love the over all clean design on this layout and I feel it really shows how much I've learned and gained from Close To My Heart.

Honored with the Rising Star Award

I was so blessed to attend Leadership Conference in Long Beach California, this past weekend. It was a weekend filled with so much information, fun and bonding...I just learned so much. The weekend was wrapped up Saturday night with the awards banquet. I won 9th place for highest recruiter in the company and then....the most prestigious award that a new consultant can be awarded is the RISING STAR AWARD and I was named. I could have killed over right there when Jeanette Lynton awarded this herself and they started showing baby pictures of me on a big screen and talking about my business and me....Good Lands, how darn exciting. My family asked me what all they said and I'll be honest I was in such shock, I have no clue...Maybe I can get Close To My Heart to send me a copy to share with my family. I received a beautiful crystal heart award, certificate, beautiful flowers (that I carried on my lap across country to get home) and get this...a check for $1000...thank you Lord! It was a fairy tale weekend and I'm so happy to work for such an awesome company with other wonderful women. The picture below is of myself and my roommates (that were the BEST!) August Stamp of The Month Blog Hop....

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! We will be featuring August's SOTM,which is IT"S YOUR DAY, a set of 26 stamps. If you have come here from Adeline's Blog, you are on the right path! I really wanted to try to think outside of the box a little...so I did two projects for you. My first is a birthday box card.


For this project I used a small found box and covered it with Bella B&T Duos Paper . I then inked the edges using one of our sponge daubers and the Olive Exlusive Ink Pad. Covered the top of the box with our Hollyhock Twill Ribbon and painted the surface of the ribbon with our Liquid Glass (which by the way is one of my favorite products of ours). The final touch at the top of the box is the felt flower from the heartfelt whimsy die cuts, pulled all together with an olive brad.

But you ask where did I use this months stamp....let's open it up

.....................SURPRISE ...................................

Up pops a cute little birthday cake that was stamped with It's Your Day and covered with the liquid glass. On the top inside of the box, I've also made an adorable card sending birthday wishes to the birthday girl/or boy. This would be really cute if filled with some candy or maybe even a bauble or two. The additional Exlusive Ink Pad Stamp Sets used to complete this card are hollyhock, Creme Brulee, and Pansy Purple.

I also did a card using the Top Band Design from the Wishes Card Confidence Card Book. This card used the Bella B&T Duos paper too and the colonial white cardstock. The edge of the card I used a section from the birthday cake of It's your day and created a patterned edge. I then used the liquid glass to dot all polka dots and really help them pop out. The accent flower on the front was cut from the Bella paper and the ribbon used to accent was the cocoa grosgrain . Finally the sentiment was used from the SOTM and pop dotted to give a nice raised effect. The various Exclusive Ink Pad colors I used for the card were : Olive and Hollyhock.
