Healing My Spirit

As many of you know this has been a very difficult year for me.  I lost my oldest son ( Will) who was 14 the end of July.  I've always been a strong Christian who knows that God will hold me up through anything...I must admit, the last few months I've really been tested.  There are days that I wake up and question everything that I've believed in my whole life, but I always come back to a yearning to be close to God especially during this time of complete heartbreak.  I don't normally share posts that are quite so personal but I really feel I need to share the joys and the sorrows that go along with this journey I'm on, in hopes that perhaps someone is out there and can relate.

One thing I have started doing is Bible Journaling and it has really helped me to express myself with my art while I concentrate on something I feel the Lord is trying to reveal to me.  It's a special quiet time that I am really coming to love.  In fact I've gotten several of my close girlfriends together and  we are starting a Bible Journaling group that will meet after the new year...I can't wait.

This is one of my first pieces I created in my Bible using Jamie Dougherty's Creating in Faith line by Prima.  The blue speckles are all the tears I feel I've shed over the last four months.  I'm waiting on the Lord to turn those tears into showers of praise and I know by faith that he will heal my spirit. My son was wonderfully made, he was exactly the way God wanted him to be and also he left this world at exactly in God's perfect time...but that doesn't mean I don't long for him daily.  I hope the things that I've gone through will somehow be a witness to Gods unfailing love and will bless me as well as others.  So for now I'll be quite and still and wait upon the Lord while I focus on my gifts.

Bingo Box

Happy Thursday everyone! Beary Scraps bingo challenge is still going on so this week I picked Distress, Glitter and Lace. The base for my box uses Echo Parks newest collection Victoria Gardens. I adore the versatility of the sheet music paper...perfect for this project.

The distressing was done several ways...first I inked the edges of the box with Distress Ink...then I stamped the leaves with Distress Crackle Paint. After the paint was dried I re stamped with Memento Ink.

The flowers are from Prima and I added Stickles Glitter to the edges for a little extra pop.

Finally for the lace, I created the lace handmade flower. It was so easy. I just took a scrap piece of lace and formed it into a circle and applied it to some Scor-Pal Tape...have to say if you want strong tape, goods lands it's great.

So that wraps up my Bingo Box....It's ready to pop a gift card or a small trinket inside and pass it along to a friend.

Be sure to check back this weekend as I have a great layout to share.

Gift of Gab

Yeap, even at five my little monkey has the GIFT OF GAB!!!  I talk to my sister....oh about 12 times a day and so of course he wants to talk to aunt EE too.  I love these pictures of him chilling out just chatting the night away to his aunt.  He's always so thoughtful to ask her " EE, How was your day?"....how sweet is that?

The paper used for this layout is from Prima Reflections collection.  I cute the flower papers and layered them with some of Prima's yummy flowers.

The Title letters are a mix...the blue letter are so Dusty Attic...gotta love that stuff.  The smaller letters are from a prima stamp.. the cut out butterflies are from that same stamp set.

I used the newest sketch from the Once Upon....a Sketch challenge that is currently going on .  I love their sketches and though you have to look a little...hope you'll see my version of it.  This layout also qualifies for The Shabby Tea Room challenge: use butterflies.

I Wonder

This is a 12 x 12 layout I created for Once Upon A Sketch's new challenge.  Let me tell you this blog has some amazing artist as part of their design team and it's an inspiration just to go over and take a look. I'm constantly amazed at how much detail I add to my pages and yet it really doesn't look that hard when I post them to my blog.

For the base page I used Prima paper and sprayed with Tattered Angels and a Prima mask the outline of the swirls, then I sprayed the mask with the pink Tattered Angels and laid it in the negative space for the double effect.
I actually cut thin strips of paper and sewed through the circle by making slits with an exacto tool.  I felt it just needed that pop of blue on the circle and this was a great solution.  I used Coredinations papers for the Fleur De Lis boarder and then sanding.
The banner for the title is from Dusty Attic and it to was sprayed with T.A, along with the fonts and the rose ribbons.  Of course you know me I had to add some pearls with baubles but also one of my new loves...liquid pearls.  They are awesome.  The butterflies are from Prima along with the sparkly green fonts used.

I love the fact that Once Upon a Sketch requires you journal.  This is something I always have to push myself to do but am so happy with the final outcome when I do.

Have a great first of the week and I'll see you Wednesday.
