Blue + Yellow = Flourishes Challenge

I loved the new release from Flourishes this month so I had to take a stab at their challenge...maybe I'll win the new release. The challenge was to use blue and yellow...so thus the colors. I used "Seaside Life" stamped some white card stock with versa mark then used my Close To My Heart ultra fine clear embossing powder. Once that was on I took my handy dandy sponge dauber and twilight ink from CTMH and sponged the whole back ground to give the underwater appearance. I loved the way the overall card came out, especially as I did this fairly quickly for me and didn't know exactly where it was going to go or end up.

CTMH America Pride Club Challenge...Don't Forget!

If you are in one of my clubs, you know I have set out a club challenge for July 1st.....create something that shows your good ole American Pride! I love our country so much and am so thankful for where I am able to call home. One of my wonderful club members Jennifer did this card and it really brought tears to my eyes. It's a simple card that she clear embossed Just For You--Stars on white CTMH cardstock. Then she shimmer misted the background in red and white and "tan" for a rustic look. She distressed all the edges. Next she used metal tape across the bottom colored with alcohol inks. Put on a CTMH hemp bow and finally stamped From Me to You-Celebrate. The part that really got me is the fact she is sending this to her husband in Iraq while she is home with her little children. I realize so many families are like Jennifer but it always brings tear to my eyes to think of the sacrifices our brave soldiers make to keep my family and I safe. So thank you to Jennifer, her husband and family and also to all the families out there that have made this core country what it is. God Bless America and our soldiers.
Remember if you are in one of my club and would like to join in on the challenge you have until July 1st to submit your American Pride artwork to me...I'll post more entries and the winner in coming days.

There's a lot going on here

Talk about a lot going on ....I don't think I could have done anything else, LOL. The sketch was from Pixie Cottage's Challenge and it made me think a little outside of my box. The core reason for starting this card was for the Digi from Karen's Doodles and believe it or not, it was a free image. I just adore her artwork...certainly one of my favorites. Karen's challenge this week was masculine...so hopefully I pulled it off with the colors. Really Reasonable Ribbons challenge was also masculine/ with ribbon...so here came the weaved ribbon around the card. Here are some more challenges this card qualified for. House Mouse...So Long, Farewell

Yes, I seem to be on a roll this evening...so I thought I would get my house mouse challenge in by the skin of my teeth. The challenge was So Long, Farewell...this is actually sort of a hard one to come up with something. I have the little wedding couple and wanted to use that one and say Farewell Freedom, but my sister made be promise I wouldn't. I still think it would have been funny. So instead since schools are letting out this coming week, I figured this one would do the trick. I used the Splendor paper pack from Close To My Heart...it's so versatile. Go check out House Mouse challenges...they are so darn cute.

Needed a Break, so I made a card!

Thank you so much for all the sweet wishes for my son Will this weekend. It so nice to be reminded what wonderful friends I have and all the support that is out there. I'll keep everyone posted and let you know what the doctor says tomorrow.
So this afternoon I was feeling a little burned out and thought I would sit down and do a card for fun. So I made this cute little guy. This is how I see my boys at the beach so the stamp was perfect. Most of you probably don't know I actually still have my baby blanket...yes I'm almost 40. My parents use to tease me I would go to college with BB the magic wonder blankie...little did they know it wasn't a joke. BB does look at bit worse for the wear but and I don't sleep with her every night, but she is really loved. So you know this picture of a little boy and his blankie going to the beach or pool stole my heart. The sketch I used is from Beary Scraps Challenge and it was supper easy, but a great design. The stamp is from Belles 'n Whistles and their challenge was to make hand made flowers and thanks to my friend Denise it's one of my favorite things to do these days.
So I'm happy to say this card took my mind off things for just a bit and actually refreshed me, so thanks to the companies for their challenges...I needed it.

Challenges:
The Beary Scrap - sketch
Belles 'n Whistles - DIY flowers
One Stitch at a Time - Boys to Men

Papertake Weekly- Fun, Fun, Fun
Creative Inspirations - beach theme
Simon Says - male
Charisma Cardz - flowers

A Personal Prayer Request..not scrapbook related

You have all seen a post here and there about my sweet boy, Will. He has a rare brain malformation/condition called lissencephaly. He has had seizures since he was three months old and granted for the most part, we are use to it, it's just part of daily life with him. Five years ago we were blessed to have a surgery where he had a stimulator put in that helps reduce his seizures and also the recovery time after he does have one. Prior to the stimulator Will could have 20-100 seizures daily...quite a lot. Now if he has three in one day it's a lot...many days we have seizure free days. We knew in time the battery on the stimulator would give out and it would have to be replaced. Well today Will has had about 15+ seizures and I think he stimulator has stopped working. It never fails that it happens on a Friday night at the start of the weekend. I have been in touch with his Neurologist and he suggested just giving him his emergency seizures meds until Monday morning when we can get into his office. I realize that this is just part of being a parent to a special needs child and all in all, I'm very use to it.....but sometimes it can be a bit scary. If you would please just keep Will in your thoughts and prayers over the weekend, I would really be grateful. I just want him to have some peace this weekend and not get to worn out...just until Monday when he can be seen by his doctor.

Thank you so much to everyone and I promise to keep you all posted. Oh and here is a picture of my sweet boy on his special bike that he just love.

June's Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to this month's stamp blog hop where you are sure to get an overdose of inspiration using Close To My Heart's June Stamp, Wonderful Friend D1422. You should have just hopped on over from Dawn's Blog where I know you loved her beautiful project. This stamp set is perfect for the man in your life with 9 great masculine stamps. Aren't we always looking for stamp sets for the men in our lives...well, here it is!
I did this card for my sweet husband for Father's Day so hopefully he won't be checking out my blog, LOL. I used the Passages Paper Collection which I just adore. It's so much prettier in person that what you can view online or in the idea book...stunning. I stamped and embossed the stopwatch stamp and also embossed a few polka dots on the side panel of the card to continue on that bling just a bit. Our new cocoa ribbon is so scrumptious and wide and just was perfect for this card. Of course all of my stamped images are popped up with our foam tape so the card has a tons of dimensions to it. I know my hubbie will love it come Father's Day.
Don't miss you chance to get this stamp set as it's only available for the month of June...head on over to my website http://lorileng.myctmh.com/ and get yours discounted or even free or of course email me and I'll be happy to help lorileng@bellsouth.net .
Now it's time to hop on over to Lori's.Blog...(great name, don't you think? hehehe) and see what fabulous creation she has prepared for you this month. Thanks for stopping by and please be sure to leave a comment...always nice to get feedback.
